Umberto Grande, Sr.

Umberto Grande, Sr., 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 25, 2026. 

He was the beloved husband of Maria (Borelli) Grande. They married on December 18, 1965, and shared 60 years of marriage.

Born in Andali, Italy, he was the beloved son of the late Santo and Giovanna (Gigliotti) Grande. He owned and operated Maria's Restaurant and Lounge. He was a true family man and supported his entire family in all their endeavors.

He enjoyed being around his family, and sharing stories of his childhood and life in Italy. He cherished vacations with Maria, especially to visit the Caribbean Islands. Umberto and Maria were steadfast members of Holy Rosary.

In addition to his wife, those cherishing Umberto's memory are his children: Ginetta Grande, JoAnn Mynes, Umberto Grande, Jr, and Franco Grande; his 10 grandchildren and their families; and the rest of his large, loving family.

He was the last of 14 children, and is survived by his brother Salvatore (Aquino) Grande.

He will be missed dearly but will remain forever in our hearts. Though he may be gone, his stories, lessons, and love will live on forever in the hearts of his family and friends.

A viewing will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Ave, West Reading, PA, 19611. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, 237 Franklin St, Reading, PA 19602, with entombment to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.Edward J.
