Todd W. Painton, 44, returned to his heavenly home December 11, 2014, after a courageous battle with cancer. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him and provided him peace. He was the beloved husband of Susan L. (Lutz) Painton and devoted father to his four children, Luke, Jacob, Sarah and Hannah. He instilled in them a strong foundation of faith that will continue to guide and comfort them throughout their lives.
Todd was born in Batavia, NY, the son of Crystal (Rice) Painton, and the late Truman Painton. He is survived by two siblings, Timothy (Nina) Painton, Aurora, CO and Christina (Garth) Hekler, Washington, DC. He was a graduate of Downingtown High School and East Stroudsburg University; he received his Master's Degree from Lehigh University.
Todd's love of teaching and basketball was apparent with his first job at Whitehall High School. His career at Wolf Distributing, provided him with many great relationships with colleagues and co-workers. Most recently Todd headed the Foundation and Grant Initiatives for Stewardship: A Mission of Faith, where he also was a key member of Youth and School Evangelization. He helped to guide the overall Program Development Outreach. Todd loved being a member of the St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church and School, where he proudly was a Eucharistic Minister and Athletic Director. The Stewardship Company, the Church and School became Todd's extended family of faith, they provided him and his family unending comfort, support, and love during their journey.
A basketball enthusiast, Todd played basketball at Downingtown High School and East Stroudsburg University. He was named Athlete of the Year during college in 1992 where he scored 1144 points. He was so proud when his team was inducted into the East Stroudsburg Sports Hall of Fame in 2007. In 2012 he was honored to join them as an individual inductee. His team and coaches helped him fight like a "warrior" and experience the true meaning of team. This was important to him to instill in his children and also others that he taught the game of basketball. He touched many people through his faith, work and basketball.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 2810 St. Alban's Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608.
