Timothy D. Rauen

Timothy D. "Timbo" Rauen, 57 , passed away February 27, 2017, in his St. Lawrence residence.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Robert and Nancy Jeanne (Briner) Balliet.

Timothy was a graduate of Reading High School (1977) and the Reading Police Academy.

He was employed by the Reading Police Department as a patrol and investigative sergeant from May 1989 to August of 2011. He moonlighted for Big John Ulrich (Big John's); he considered him a father figure. Before he was a police officer he was known as the "lunch man" at Lauers Park Elementary School. After retiring from the police force he worked at the Perkiomen Beer Distributor, the Oley Beer Mart, and for Daniel Boone High School in security.

Timbo was a caring and empathetic human being and was always first to bring something to a family who had a loss. He was the best ex-husband a woman could ask for. Timbo was a black belt in karate. He loved to cook and fish; loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor, always ready to tell a funny story. Although well known for being a very tough guy, he would do anything for anyone and he was loved by all. Most especially, he loved his family, especially his daughter who was everything to him.

He is survived by his daughter, Rachel G. Rauen, at home; ex-wife, Nicole M. (Fiorillo) Rauen; brother, Joseph Rauen, husband of Garrison Botts, Rhinebeck, NY; sister, Kathleen Stratton, wife of Barry Silverman, Shepherdstown, WV; and his loving dogs, Ike and Zoe.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 4, 2017, at 11:30 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. A viewing will be held Saturday from 9-11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
