Timothy Paul McCauley, 52, passed away May 23, 2019, in his Romney, West Virginia residence.
Born March 25, 1967, in Reading, he was the son of the late Paul J. McCauley and Carol A. (Klarsch) McCauley.
Timothy was a graduate of the Wilson High School class of 1985. He also attended Penn State University, Mont Alto campus, where he received his B.A. in Forest Science. He later followed with Irish Studies at Trinity College, Dublin, Ireland, Ecology at California State University, Chico and Computer Engineering at the California State University, East Bay.
Timothy began his Silviculture career as a wildland firefighter with the PA Bureau of Forestry District #18. He later moved to Lowman, ID, to work with the U.S. Forest Service (U.S. Dept. of Agriculture) as a Fire and Aviation manager. His time with the Forest Service was also spent in Truckee, CA. Timothy ended his career with the Bureau of Land Management (U.S. Dept. of the Interior) in Susanville/Ravendale, CA, as Helibase Captain for Helitack Crew 553.
Tim is survived by the love of his life, his daughter, Erin K. Cortez (Phillip M.), Norwich, CT; two brothers, Christopher J. McCauley (Colleen), West Wyomissing and James P. McCauley, West Wyomissing. Timothy is also survived by two granddaughters: Gracelyn K. and Emersyn J. Cortez; as well as three nephews, Christopher M. Rowley, Kevin S. Stofka and Paul J. McCauley.Timothy is also survived by his faithful canine companion Lola.
Timothy was predeceased by companion and mother of his daughter, Kelly S. Kirwan who passed away on November 9, 2009.
Timothy will be best remembered for his compassion and thirst for knowledge. He was a lifelong scholar who always found solace in literature. Timothy enjoyed spending time with his brothers at Grateful Dead shows and The Weather Capital of the World, Punxsutawney PA. He was a New York Yankee fan since childhood and enjoyed sharing that passion with his family. He treasured taking his daughter to many baseball games during her childhood and was even able to take his granddaughter, Gracelyn, to her first Yankee game last summer. Most of all, Timothy was elated at the prospect of spending any time with his daughter and her family, whether at her home in Connecticut or his cabin in West Virginia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 21, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. in St. Ignatius of Loyola R. C. Church, 2810 St. Albans Dr., Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Visitation will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. Burial will be private in Idaho along with the planting of a commemorative tree. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
