Thomas E. Voelker

Thomas E. Voelker, 88, passed away on June 21, 2023, at the Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara Jean (Linton) Voelker.

Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Ernst B. and Ruth E. (Wenrich) Voelker and brother to the late Ann Marrella.

Thomas graduated from West Reading High School in 1952 and went on to attend Penn State University. During his time at PSU, he was a walk-on member of the gymnastics team, specializing in the rope climb. After a career in engineering at Gilbert Associates, Inc., he founded and managed Berks Realty Services for 15 years.

Thomas was a member of Bausman Memorial U.C.C., Wyomissing. Thomas was a proud Marine and was on the Marine Corps National Rifle and Pistol Team ranking 5th in the world for the 100 yards, no scope, M-1. He enjoyed tennis and played into his 80's. Thomas will be remembered for his love of God, his family, his country, and traveling.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, Thomas is survived by his children Jennifer (David Tyler) and Thomas Voelker (Jennifer), and his siblings Robert Voelker and Deborah Reardon. Thomas also adored his three grandchildren Claire Elizabeth Voelker, Allison Jeann Voelker, and Caroline May Tyler.

The memorial service will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading with interment at Gethsemane Cemetery, Reading to follow. The visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
