Thomas Daniel Schaeffer

Thomas Daniel Schaeffer passed away at his home, September 22, 2015, at the age of 73, surrounded by his loving family, after less than a year long fight with cancer.

He was a resident of the Birdsboro area for most of his life. Most recently, Tom retired to the Wyomissing area to be close to his family. He was born in Union Township to Bertha (Smith) Breitenstein and Daniel W. Schaeffer. He married Sydney D. Folk of Reading, and the two of them were a tour de force on the tennis court.

He is survived by his stepmother, Marie Schaeffer, Ronks, PA; a daughter, Eran D. Stirr, wife to Christopher M. Stirr of Reading; and a son, Justin D. Schaeffer, husband to Vonnie L. Schaeffer of Shillington. He is also survived by a brother, Timothy Breitenstein, partner of Francis Stuart of New London, CT; two sisters, Elizabeth Breitenstein of Lititz, PA, and Lynn Schaeffer Hill of Exeter, PA; and a stepbrother, John Ferenz of Lancaster, PA. He was predeceased by a brother, John Schaeffer; a sister, Teddy Hevalow; and a grandson, Keegan Michael Stirr. He has three wonderful grandchildren: Trystin and Preston Schaeffer, and Lillian Stirr, who were the joy of his life.

Tom was employed by Firestone Tire and Rubber Company of Pottstown for many years and retired from Kennedy Tool and Die of Birdsboro.
