Thomas A. Rowley, 96, of Kutztown, passed away into the arms of his Lord and Savior while surrounded by his devoted family February 9, 2017, in the Reading Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Dorothy Mae (Ulshafer) Rowley, who predeceased him and with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in Shenandoah, he was the son of the late William J. and Margaret (Bretz) Rowley.
Tom was a United States Army veteran serving as a medic during World War II.
He was a member of the Cement Mason and Plasterers Union 105.
Tom attended Rosedale United Church of Christ, Laureldale.
Tom enjoyed fishing and traveling with his wife and family members, George and Lorraine Gardner. He volunteered much of his time helping others and greeting them with a bright smile and a keen Irish sense of humor. Tom was loved by all who knew him.
Above all else his family was most important to him. He is survived by his five children: Joan A. Rowe, Wyomissing; Keith T., husband of Gail LeBlanc, California; Colleen, wife of Christopher McCauley, West Wyomissing; Mike, husband of Sharon Rowley, Laureldale; Sherri, wife of Chuck Bailey, Womelsdorf. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Steven M. Rowley, Michael P. Rowley, Janet N. (Rowley) Klimowski, Kristie L. Bailey, Jennifer N. Chupak, Christopher M. Rowley, Kevin S. Stofka, Paul J. McCauley, Michael D. Rowe, Melanie K. Nolan, Rebecca Rowley-Faust and Donald J. Wilk. There are twenty-five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, daughters-in-law, Delores Rowley and Beverly Rowley-Adams. Tom was predeceased by two sons, Dennis E. and Thomas A., Jr., and all 12 of his siblings.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 15, 2017, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. with services to follow at Laureldale Cemetery Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to pawoundedwarriors.org or salvationarmyusa.org. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
