Thomas James Reilly Jr., 60, a resident of Dayspring Homes in Reading, PA, died November 13, 2016 in Reading Hospital with his family at his side.
Mr. Reilly, known as "T.J." was an exceptional individual who was an inspiration to all who knew him. TJ's special charm and genial nature made him countless friends over the years, including two former U.S. Presidents, country music performing artists and professional athletes. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 14, 1956, he was the eldest child of Jenna (Milsom) Reilly and the late Thomas J. Reilly Sr.
TJ graduated from Pennside School in 1977. In his youth he was an enthusiastic and accomplished Special Olympian as his many medals and trophies attest. TJ worked at THRESHOLD Rehabilitation Services, Inc for over 25 years – a tireless and dedicated worker. As a longtime resident of Dayspring homes, and many years of it under the caring guidance of Sister Francis Bisland (founder of Dayspring Homes), TJ enjoyed many life experiences; he traveled to Nashville and Scotland with his beloved housemates, volunteered at the Precious Blood convent, and continued his central role in all family celebrations.
TJ and his family are members of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading. In addition to his mother, he is survived by four siblings, Cathleen A .Reilly, Rockville, MD, Lizbeth M. Reilly, Gaithersburg, MD, Patricia A Koch, Potomac MD, Robert Q Reilly, husband of Heather B Reilly, Wayne PA. TJ was adored by his seven nieces and nephews: Reilly, Kathleen, Max, and Jenna Koch; Leyland, Grace and Auggie Reilly. He was pre-deceased by his father, TJ Reilly Sr, and his brother-in-law, Danny Koch.
A private family Mass and burial service will be held. The Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dayspring Homes, Inc, in memory of TJ Reilly Jr. Proceeds will be used for the unfunded activities for the residents.
