Thomas R. Weaver

Thomas R. Weaver, 76, died January 18, 2016, in his Spring Township residence.

He was the husband of Joan E. (Tkac) Weaver; they had been married for over 53 years.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Pearl (Cichowicz) Weaver.

He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School.

Thomas served in law enforcement for the Borough of West Reading for 26 ½ years, retiring as Sergeant in July of 1989. He was also employed by Meridian Bank Corp. in security for seven years and Security Guards, Inc. as VP/ General Manager for 11 years.

He was a U.S. Air force veteran.

Thomas was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.

Known affectionately as TR, Chick and Pop-Pop, Tom was an incredibly selfless man whose dedication to his family, friends and community was his life's mission. From the time he was a young boy he had a passion for athletics and the outdoors. He was able to enjoy both for his entire life especially as a fan at his grandchildren's games. He spent many days in Ocean City, Maryland and countless hours fishing on the bay and in the surf. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Thomas M., husband of Daneen Weaver, Spring Township; Michael B., husband of Jennifer Weaver, Macungie and Linda Lee, wife of David Reinhart, Sinking Spring. There are two sisters, Marie F. Jones, Nazareth, PA and Theodora E., wife of James Welsh, Owego, NY. Seven grandchildren, Shannon, Brian, Lauren, Daniel, Molly, Tommy and Olivia also survive him.

There will be no public viewing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 1:30 p.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, 2810 St. Alban's Dr., Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Burial will be private. Contributions may be made to: St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Ignatius Church at the above address or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38105.
