Thomas P. Owens, 71, of Spring Township, died of natural causes February 24th while vacationing in Villages, Florida.
He was the husband of Patricia Ann (Leinbach) Owens.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the Mary M. (Daley) Owens of Birdsboro and the late Joseph A. Owens.
He was a 1952 graduate of Reading Central Catholic and a 1955 graduate of Wyomissing Polytechnical Institute.
Owens was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield, where he served as a eucharistic minister for the past 25 years.
He was employed 39 years at the Polymer/Quadrant Corporation, Reading, starting as a sales service representative. Owens rose through many different sales and management positions.
In 1968 he was promoted to Plant Manager and subsequently to Manufacturing and product division manager for the Northmont facility, until 1996.
Owens continued as a engineering consultant and manufacturing educator.
He was later a partner, consultant and past treasurer of Keystone Technical Associates, West Reading for the 8 years, before retiring in 2005.
Owens is also survived by a daughter, Meg M. (Owens) Phillips of Blandon and two sons, Stephen P. of Wyomissing and Timothy J. of Coto de Caza, California.
Other survivors include two brothers, Joseph W. Owens of Riverview Park and John C. Owens of Birdsboro.
There are also seven grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10:00 am in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, Pa 19608. Viewing Wednesday evening 6:30 - 8:00 pm in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. Contributions may be made to the church's memorial fund at the above address or to Easter Seals Society, 1040 Liggett Avenue, Reading, Pa 19611.
