Thomas E. Norquest

Thomas Earl Norquest, Jr., 80, of North Heidelberg Township, passed away on his favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, on Thursday, November 23, 2023. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of Thomas E. Norquest, Sr. and Joan Pursley. Thomas was the devoted husband of Shirley A. Norquest, until her passing in April of 2011.

Following his graduation from high school in Horseheads, NY, Thomas made the commitment to serve his country and proudly enlisted in the United States Army. His training led him to become a missile technician during the Cold War. Thomas was honorably discharged and his military experience instilled in him a deep love for his country. Thomas eventually retired as a national account manager for Penske in Reading, PA.

Thomas carried himself with pride and dignity. His incredible sense of humor and sharp wit will be missed by all who met him. Thomas had a deep passion for anything with wheels and a motor. He was a car enthusiast and raced professionally in the 1970s Trans Am Series. Over the years, he collected a slew of cars and motorcycles that he loved to take on road trips. His last ride led him to New York in his Ford Mustang. Thomas enjoyed memories of spending summers in Lancaster with his grandmother and boating in the Chesapeake Bay with friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and the many meals he shared with friends at their favorite diners.

He is survived by his children, Carol J. Norquest, partner of Steven Valente, of Greensboro, NC, and David S. Norquest, husband of Kimberly, of Reading. He leaves behind his granddaughter, Carissa Norquest, wife of Dylan Silbiger, and his great grandchildren, Aspen and Linden. Also surviving is his brother, Lawrence Norquest, of Florida, and his step-sisters, Kelly and Cheryl.

Thomas was predeceased by his son, Stephen L. Norquest.
