Thomas R. Norman, Sr., 77, of Blandon, passed away January 16, 2016, at St. Joseph Hospital.
He was the husband of Janice A. (Joyce) Norman; they were married on December 6, 1963.
Born in N. Little Rock, AR., he was a son of the late Rudolph A. and Mary Louise (Stanley) Norman.
He was a 1964 graduate of Henderson State University.
Thomas was a US Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.
He was co-owner and general manager of the Inn at Reading from 1979-1995. He continued to manage various hotels until his retirement in 2009.
He served on numerous local boards including: Reading and Greater Berks Chamber of Commerce; Penn State University, Berks Campus and the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Berks, where he had served as the president.
He loved to play golf and fish; and enjoyed coaching his children in various sports.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Thomas R., Jr., husband of Alexandria Norman, Waxahatchie, TX; Adrienne L., wife of Joey Merriman, Grenada, MS; Tracey M., widow of Earl Ramsey, Blandon and Patrick A., husband of Kristin Norman, Mechanicsburg. One brother, Charlie Norman, Little Rock, AR and eleven grandchildren: Ashley; Kristen; Cole; Joshua; Jeremy; Noah; R.J.; Carson; Erica; Ryan and Nicholas also survive him.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
