Thomas J. Lenich, 76, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away March 9, 2017 in St. Joseph Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Michele M. (Hammes) Lenich whom he married on August 14, 1991.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Thomas E. and Mary C. (Heere) Lenich.
Tom was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Kutztown University and a Master's degree from Lehigh University.
He was a proud U.S. Air Force veteran who actively served from 1958-1960.
Tom was employed by Career Link as a Career Counselor for over 20 years until his retirement in 2003. He was also a barber in his youth and was described by many as the "best barber in town."
He was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church.
Tom was very active in the community. He was a member of the Barbers Union and Muhlenberg J. C.'s. Tom had a great sense of humor, never complained and fought the good fight to the very end. He was the real deal and was loved by all who knew him. The most important thing to him was family. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Carolann Moody, Alburtis; Thomas C., husband of Jan Lenich, Kutztown; Adrienne Ketterer, Green Hills; and Jason, husband of Lisa Blackerby, Omaha, NE. He is also survived by five siblings, Maryann, wife of Jospeh Plange, Kenhorst; Louise, wife of John Houck, Bernville; John, husband of Kathy Lenich, Muhlenberg Twp.; Catherine, wife of Tim Mast, Arlington, MA; and Joseph E. Lenich, Richmond, VA; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 13, 2017, at 10 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, 3121 Kutztown Rd., Hyde Park, Reading. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, March 13, from 9-10 a.m. in the church. Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Temple, is in charge of arrangements.
