Thomas L. Hafer, 47, was called home on August 31, 2015, after a courageous ten month battle with a rare bile duct cancer, in his Douglassville residence.
He was the husband of Kathleen (Conrad) Hafer, whom he married February 5, 1993.
Born in Reading, he was a son of Earl Hafer, Douglassville and the late Joan (Reed) Hafer.
He was a 1986 graduate of Daniel Boone High School.
Tom was a proud fifth generation dairy farmer and was self-employed on his family's dairy farm, Earl Hafer and Sons, Amity Township.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Douglassville.
Tom was a member of the Pennsylvania Farmers' Association and Berks County Farmers Association.
He always wanted the best for his children; Tom was proud of them attending college and always looked forward to his daughter's field hockey games.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Tyler C. Hafer, a student at Alvernia University, and Jacob T. Hafer, a student at La Salle University; and a daughter, Taylor C. Hafer, a student at Berks Catholic High School. Tom is also survived by sisters, Tammy, wife of Kevin Russell, Easton and Tina, wife of David Hackett, Douglassville; and a brother, Terry, husband of Jeanne Hafer, Douglassville. Numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles, especially James "Snoots" Reed who accompanied him to his chemo treatments at Thomas Jefferson Hospital, also survive him.
