Thomas M. Fry, 83, died peacefully January 23, 2012 in West Chester, PA.
Tom was the loving and devoted husband of Jean P. (Capilo) Fry.
Born in Reading, PA, he was a son of Samuel R. Fry and Margaret (Thun) Fry. Tom was a grandson of Ferdinand K and Anna (Grebe) Thun and Howard and Ella Fry.
While attending St.Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire, Tom enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in Pearl Harbor. After serving his country during World War II, he returned home and graduated from the Hill School in Pottstown, PA.
After earning his degrees from the Washington and Lee University and Babson College, Tom began working in his family's company, the Wyomissing Industries. Beginning his career in sales with the company, Tom became Vice-President of Narrow Fabric.
In 1970, Tom became owner and president of the Dolfin Corporation, and built it into one of the top swim and running wear companies in the nation. After selling the company in 1982, Tom retired.
He was a member of the Maiden Creek Fish and Game Club, Coral Beach Club and former member of the Rolling Rock Club and Mid Ocean Club.
In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his son Samuel R. Fry II, step-son David T. Blaise, husband of Claire M. Blaise, Reading, PA and daughters Olivia (Fry )Weeks, wife of William H. Weeks, Southport, CT; Andrea (Fry) Blake,wife of Richard R. Blake, Washington, DC; Margaret (Fry) Paskal, wife of Randy D. Paskal, Santa Barbara, CA.
Tom is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Other survivors include two siblings, Howard M. Fry, Esq. and Victoria (Fry) Guthrie. He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara (Fry) Gosch.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Catharine of Siena R.C. Church, 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading. A viewing will be Friday 5 to 7 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Catharine of Siena R.C.
