Thomas A. Connelly, 68, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 22, 2019, in his Elverson home. A son of John A. and Sybil E. (Worstell) Connelly, Tom was the loving and devoted husband of Rosemary (Colgan) Connelly, with whom he shared 31 years of marriage.
In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his children: Jonathan, husband of Elisha, Brady, Margaret, Libby and Mary Jo. Also surviving is his brother Michael, married to Nancy, and sister Alice, married to Robert Hudson. He was predeceased by his brother Cody.
A Master Mechanic, Tom worked for 22 years at Rafferty Subaru in Newtown Square, PA. Prior to that he spent eight years as Operations Manager for Colorado Adventures whitewater rafting company at Rancho del Rio, Colorado. Tom also worked as a foreman for many years on the railroad in Illinois.
He was dedicated to his faith, family, church and community. Tom shared his love for the outdoors with family and friends. He mentored many young men with his example of quiet strength, serving for several years as an Assistant Scoutmaster and Committee Chair with Boy Scout Troop 37 in Elverson. A Charter Member, Third Degree Knight and Trustee with the Knights of Columbus at the Church of St. Benedict, Mohnton, Tom was a steady influence, with an emphasis on service and charity. He was regularly found in the church kitchen during various functions, and in the pits at the chicken barbeque, sharing his love and talent for cooking.
A dedicated Denver Broncos fan, Tom enjoyed watching football with his family, as well as his favorite John Wayne movies. He loved nature, and spent his spare time gardening and bird watching as well as camping, fishing, traveling, hunting, and of course whitewater rafting.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Tom on Monday, January 28, at 10:00 am at Church of St. Benedict, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton. Burial will be at Robeson Cemetery in Plowville. Friends may call Sunday evening, from 5:00-7:00pm and Monday from 9:00-10:00am at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom's honor may be made to Knights of Columbus, Council 14654 or the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Benedict's at the address above.
