Theresa S. Springer, 87, formerly of Spring Township, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2024, in the care of Phoebe Berks. She was the widow of F. Donald Springer, who passed away on June 19, 2017.
Born in Bethlehem to the late Charles F. and Anne (Treskot) Szilagyi, Theresa graduated from Bethlehem Catholic High School.
A devout woman, Theresa was a faithful and active member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish where she served as parish secretary for 30 years, retiring on January 1, 2000. Theresa also served as Catechist, Lector, and Special Minister. She previously served as secretary and president of the St. Ignatius Women's Society as well as secretary of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was also active in the women's bible study as well as St. Ignatius Seniors.
Left to treasure Theresa's memory are her children: F. David Springer (Nikki) Berkeley Heights, NJ; Cindy A. (Springer) Kraus (Jeff), Louisville, KY; and Michael D. Springer (Terry), York, PA; grandchildren: Andrea T. (Springer) Enterline, Rebecca C. (Springer) Boyle, Michael J. Springer, Chelsea A. (Kraus) Klinksiek, and Jordan B. Kraus; and great grandchildren: Evelyn M. Enterline, Lucy M. Boyle, June T. Boyle, Anna J. Springer, Michael B. Springer, Lyra A. Klinksiek, Aria B. Klinksiek, and one expected March 2025.
Theresa is also survived by her brother, Charles G. Szilagyi, Bethlehem, PA, and brother-in-law, M. Barry Springer (Lois), Johnstown, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Thomas P. Bortz on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 12 p.m. at St. Ignatius of Loyola R.C.C., 2810 St. Albans Drive, Whitfield, PA 19608, with committal to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel of Resurrection. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the start of Mass at the church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul at 58 Progress Parkway, Maryland Heights, MO 63043-3706 or St. Ignatius of Loyola R.C.C. at the above address. Edward J.
