Theresa T. Kowatch

Theresa (Thomas) Kowatch, 75, of Sinking Spring passed away peacefully at home on October 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the loving wife of James N. Kowatch. They shared over 51 years of marriage together. Together, they have two children, Alison Foura, wife of Scott (Sinking Spring, PA), and James T. Kowatch (Baltimore, MD). Theresa was known as "Tessy" to her three beautiful granddaughters: Gabriella, Julianna, and Sophia Grace Foura.

She was the daughter of the late Herbert J. Thomas and Maude Virginia (Wendlinger) Thomas. She was born in Northport, Long Island (New York) and grew up there with her seven siblings: the late Jack Thomas, Paul Thomas, Barbara Chigger, the late Michael Thomas, Phillip Thomas, Carol Suprina, and the late Daniel Thomas.

Theresa graduated from Northport High School and attended nursing school at Orange County Community College, before becoming a registered nurse. She worked at Lankenau Hospital for over 35 years as a labor and delivery nurse. Alongside her work as an RN, she also started Touch of Fabric, a custom drapery workroom where she fabricated award-winning window treatments for many clients over the years.

In her free time, Theresa loved sewing, music, and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughters. She was an incredibly loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed dearly by all those who knew her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Theresa's memory on Friday, October 16, 2026 at 12:30 PM at St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2600 Saint Albans Dr, Reading PA 19609. A viewing will be held before the Mass at the church beginning at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America at alzfdn.org/donate/.
