Theresa M. Althouse

Theresa M. Althouse, 90, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Reading Hospital and Medical Center. She was the loving wife of Ralph J. Althouse, Jr., with whom she shared 68 years of marriage.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late William and Edna (Buckley) Winkler. Theresa graduated Albright College (Class of 1955) with a degree in home economics. She married Ralph on September 3, 1955 and devoted herself to her family. She made her home a warm and welcoming place with the arts and crafts she lovingly created. "Tess" will be remembered for carrying on a Christmas Stollen tradition for many years. She also enjoyed cards, whether partnered with Ralph to play bridge at the Berks County Bridge Club or beating her grandkids at Shanghai.

Left to cherish her memory are husband, Ralph; son, Kurt Althouse (Allison) of Wyomissing; daughter, Terri Ness (Bob Murray) of Reading; grandchildren: Andrew Althouse (Meghan), Daniel Althouse (Amber), Katie Ledwith (Drew), Jamie Drenning (Zachary), Tyler Conway (Nathan) and Craig Ness; and eleven great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, October 8, 2023 from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611. Interment at Gethsemane Cemetery will be private.
