Thelma Clara (Ottinger) Diefenderfer, 87, formerly of 5932 Littlefield Avenue, Reading and 200-1 Springside Drive, Spring Township, died October 25th at 10:30 pm in the Southeastern Veterans Center, Chester County where she had been since November 20, 2001.

She was the widow of Kenneth Edward Diefenderfer who died July 31, 1997.

Born in Pottstown, Montgomery County, she was a daughter of the late Grover Bell Rutter and Stella V. (Ottinger) Moore.

She was a 1938 graduate of Reading High School.

Diefenderfer held the rank of Navy Petty Officier 2nd Class working as a Aviation Metalsmith during WWII.

She is survived by a son, Eugene D. Diefenderfer of Wernersville.

There are three grandchildren.

Diefenderfer was predeceased by a daughter, Elaine D. (Diefenderfer) Weller, who died June 12, 1996.

Services will be Thursday at 11:00am in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Rev. __________ officiating. Viewing 10 am unitl time of service. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
