Terry Reed Gring

Terry Reed Gring, 71, of North Heidelberg Township, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 with his wife, Sharon L. (Killian) Gring, at his side. They were married 50 years on May 16th.

Born in Reading on April 13, 1940, he was a son of the late Harvey S. and Annie (Reed) Gring. He was raised along the Tulpehocken Creek, Glenside.

Terry was a 1958 graduate of Reading High School.

He worked for the Dana Corporation, Reading, for 32 years, retiring in 2000. He then worked for the Berks County Library System, delivering books, for 7 years.

Terry was a former committee chairman for Boy Scouts of America Cub Scout Pack 223 and was also a Scoutmaster of Troop 223, at Hope Lutheran Church, Reading . He was a member of Blue Marsh Sailing Association, Northkill Rod and Gun Club, Strausstown Rod and Gun Club and Oley Valley Fish and Game Association.

Terry enjoyed traveling with friends, ice skating from age 3 to 70, trap shooting, sporting clay shooting, sailing, bowling and photography.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children: Daniel Terry, husband of Stephanie L. Gring, West Lawn and Marcia Webber, New Philadelphia. Also surviving are his sister, Gail Gring, Pocono Lake and his nephew, Todd Gring. He was a proud and loving grandfather to his four grandchildren: Jace Gring, Kiley Gring, Richard Webber and Jade L. Webber.

He was predeceased by his nephew, Jake Julianno.

He will be missed by his family, friends and Lucy, the best dog in the world.

Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A viewing will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Heidelberg Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Pinnacle Hospice: Pottsville Office, 301 One Norwegian Plaza, Pottsville, PA 17901.
