Terry "Jill" Bergdale Crawford, 72, passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, she was one of two daughters born to the late Elmer and Glenna (Hamilton) Stiefel. As children, Terry and her sister, Sandie, travelled the country on the back of their parents' motorcycles. This instilled a sense of adventure and a love of travel in Jill that persisted throughout her life.
While raising two children, Jill returned to college, graduating from Mount St. Mary's University with a degree in education. She enjoyed a long career as an elementary and special education teacher. Jill loved to sew, creating everything from clothing to quilts, toys, and home décor. She loved to play cards with her family and friends. She was an avid Girl Scout leader and mentor. It was in her nature to offer support and encouragement to others. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity. Jill's greatest joy was to be a loving Grandma Jill, Grandma Two, and Meemaw. She was incredibly proud of her grandchildren.
Left to cherish Jill's memory are daughter, Erin Fratis (Kevin) of Sinking Spring, PA; son, Adam Bergdale (Terran) of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren: Isaac James (Kelsey) of Sandy, Utah, Joshua Fratis, Madilyn Fratis, Kayleigh Fratis, Chloe Fratis, Tucker Bergdale, and Torren Bergdale. She was preceded in death by her sister, Sandie Stiefel Hayen.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. According to her wishes, Jill will return to the Black Hills that she loved so well.
