Teresa A. (Chelius) Boylan, of Wyomissing, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving husband and children, at the age of 93, on July 21, 2021. She was born on May 1, 1928, to the late Leo and Mary (Kerr) Chelius.
While growing up during the Great Depression, the youngest of four children, Teresa lost her father when she was only four years old, she learned valuable life-long lessons that would help shape how she lived her life, by helping and serving others. She went on to graduate from Central Catholic High School before she began her wonderful journey of 72 years of marriage with her loving husband Charles "Pat" Boylan, whom she married on June 11, 1949, at St Margaret's Roman Catholic Church.
Teresa lived a very fulfilling and happy life and left a legacy as a loving wife and mother, a wonderful homemaker, while staying active and serving on the Board of the Boylan family-owned business, Berks Packing for many terms. The most important things in her life that made her the happiest, were her family, her Catholic faith and helping others. Teresa and Pat's blessed life together was filled with fun, humor, kindness, generosity, and mutual respect, as their strong Catholic faith led them to become devout members at St John Baptist De La Salle Church since 1949.
Teresa was a loving wife and a loving mother of 11 children, 29 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. Being blessed with her large family, Teresa made time for everyone with her servant heart, rarely seen sitting still, always willing to help and serve others. Teresa was an excellent cook who somehow managed to prepare nearly every family dinner from scratch. As the family matriarch of 82 family members, Teresa loved to host and entertain her family during the holidays and many family milestones.
Teresa enjoyed staying active while jogging with her friends, including running 1,776 miles to celebrate America's bicentennial. She also enjoyed playing golf, cross country skiing, hiking and long bike rides with her husband, as members of the Berks County Bicycle Club. She was a huge sports fans and enjoyed attending and being a spectator at large sporting venues, including attending multiple Olympics, Super Bowls, and U.S Open Golf Championships, and was also a long time Philadelphia Eagles season ticket holder. In her later years, she enjoyed playing Pinochle daily with Pat.
The family would like to thank Andrew Polyak and his team from Caring Hospice and Janelle Frimpong from Comfort Keepers for their loving care and concern for Teresa.
Teresa's husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her heart and joy. She is survived by her beloved husband Pat, her 11 children and spouses: Kathy, Pat, Mike (Suzanne), Tim, Peter (Elaine), Teresa Button (Curtis), David, John (Jennifer), Mary, Jim (Maria) and Joe (former spouse Lisa); her 29 grandchildren: Melissa Holland (Rod), Patrick, Jennifer Crabtree (Brian), Elizabeth Bushman (Tony), Michael (Beth), Chris, Sarah Reimels (Dr. Brian), Rebecca Navarro (Michael), Timothy (Barri), Nick (Amanda), Katherine, Rachel (fiancé Tyler), Dr. Paul, Ryan (Shannon), Shawn, Chris (fiancée Britt), John, Kathryn DeVuono (Brian), Michael (fiancée Anita), Kevin, Phillip, Nicole, (fiancé Mitesh), Alex, Joseph (Lauren), Matt, Julia, Jackie, James, and Seth and 22 great-grandchildren: Brenna, Kyler, Brynlee, Breyah, Braxton, Blake, Rocco, Leo, Paris, Molly, Julie, Caroline, Ella, Anna, Jack, Michael, Grace, Luke, Sylvia, Benjamin, Madelyn, and Emily.
