T. Edward Mcgrath

T. Edward McGrath, 91, of Grande Valley Road, Exeter Township, died Feb. 3 at 8:15 p.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since Jan. 22.

His wife, Margaret (Mills) McGrath, died March 6, 2001.

Born in Roxborough, he was a son of the late Edward J. and Sarah (Wilhere) McGrath.

McGrath was employed for 30 years as a civil engineer by Gilbert Associates, Reading, retiring in 1976.

He was a graduate of St. John's School for Boys, Manayunk, and a graduate of Drexel Institute of Technology, Philadelphia, with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.

McGrath also attended the Adjutant General's School, Washington, D.C., and the Balliol College at Oxford University in England.

He was an Army veteran of World War II.

McGrath was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Exeter Township.

He was a life member of Knights of Columbus Council 793, Reading.

Surviving are three daughters: Dr. Sarah M. McGrath, Shippensburg; Susan E. (McGrath) Dengler, Reading; and Maura C. (McGrath) Ciabattoni, Wyomissing.

Other survivors include a sister, Katherine (McGrath) Cranney, Roxborough; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Catharine of Siena Church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
