Sylvia H. Loeper

Sylvia H. Loeper, 83, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at the Reading Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Gerald J. Loeper. They were married June 25, 1966 in St. Paul's RCC, Reading.

Born in Shenandoah, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Loyes) Steslow. Sylvia graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1957.

She worked for Meridian Bank, retiring as the secretary to the chief economist.

Sylvia was a long-time, faithful member of Sacred Heart RCC. She was a devout Catholic; her faith was of utmost importance to her. She always prayed for the souls in purgatory.

She persevered through many medical issues, she never gave up, and was always positive.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Daniel (Stephanie) of Holland, PA; Gerald Jr. (Raquel) of Lower Heidelberg Twp., and Thomas of West Lawn; and nine grandchildren: Nathan, Allison, Kaitlyn, Adam, Anna, Duncan, Daria, Jared, and Derek.

She was predeceased by her siblings: Alma Pickel, John Steslow and Louis Steslow.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with entombment to follow at Gethsemane Mausoleum. A viewing will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading and again on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. at the church.
