Sylvia Ann Derr

Sylvia Ann Derr, 55, passed away August 12, 2013, in her Colony Park residence, surrounded by her loving family, after her lengthy battle with breast cancer. She was the wife of Dr. Craig A. Derr; they were married on May 16, 1981.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Silvio Carradorini, Philadelphia and the late Luciana (Pezzolesi) Carradorini.

Sylvia was a graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School, and Germantown Hospital, where she earned her RN degree.

She was an RN in The Reading Hospital Emergency Room from 1981 to 1984. After raising her four children, she resumed her career at Proserpi-Schlechter Center for Plastic Surgery for over 10 years, last working in April 2013.

Sylvia was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.

Over the past couple of decades, she served as a model of strength and inspiration to many. She would love to be remembered as a beloved wife, devoted mother, loving daughter, supportive sister, loyal friend, and committed advocate to others fighting their own battles with cancer.

In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by her children, Natalie, Matthew, Andrea and Vincent. There are three brothers, Daniel Carradorini, husband of Karen, Blue Bell; Mark Carradorini, husband of Mary Ellen, Willow Grove; and Steven Carradorini, husband of Carolyn, Philadelphia. Eleven nieces and nephews also survive her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 1 p.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola R.C.C. Interment will be private in Gethsemane Mausoleum. Friends may call Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the church.
