Sybil Woodward

Sybil (Risley) Woodward, 94, died April 19, 2015 in her Spring Township residence.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard F. Woodward, on August 1, 2001.

Born in Great Falls, MT, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Ephretta (MacDonald) Risley.

She was a U.S. Marine Corps WW II veteran. She was in the 2nd Wave of Women to complete USMC basic training at Camp Lejeune, NC.

Sybil was an active member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing.

She was also very active in community affairs including serving on the council of Great Valley Girl Scouts and volunteering with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Sybil was proud of her Scottish Heritage, and enjoyed researching her genealogical and family history.

She is survived by three children: Laura Jean "Gigi", wife of Gary W., Ley, Wakefield, RI; Mark R. Woodward, Spring Township and Terri A. Woodward, Fincastle, VA; her sister, Jacqueline Thompson, San Clemente, CA; three grandchildren: Jeffrey Ley, Kerrijean Houser, Christopher Woodward; two great-grandchildren: Madison Ley and Braydon Ley.

Other survivors include five nieces and two nephews.

Sybil was predeceased by two sisters: Jean Risley and Helen Saylor and her grandson, Andrew Woodward.

Services will be Thursday, April 23rd at 11 a.m. in Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd, Wyomissing, PA 19610. Inurnment will be in Atonement Lutheran Church Columbarium. Friends may call Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church.
