Susan L. Williams, 60, of 1918 Sturbridge Drive, Wyomissing, died September 11, 2009 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center following an unanticipated outcome of a cardiac procedure.

Born October 5, 1948, she was a graduate of Wyomissing Area High School, class of 1967, and attended Chamberlyn Junior College in Boston. She resided with her sister, Sheila W. Walsh.

An active volunteer in the Reading and Berks County community, she was a member of the Junior League of Reading having served as its treasurer as well as a devoted member of the Songsters. A past officer of the Berks County Arts Council, the Wyomissing Crime Watch and the Women's Board of St. Joseph Hospital, she participated in numerous area bridge groups. She was a very active member of her church, The Bridge, in Cumru Township.

Her initial employment was as an operating room technician (1969-1973) at St. Joseph Hospital after which she became her father's assistant in his medical practice in Pennside (1973-1983). This was followed by a very successful career as an automobile salesperson first at Performance Toyota in Sinking Spring and later with Tom Masano, Inc. She left her car sales career to attend the New York Dog Grooming School in Manhattan and upon her certification opened Berkshire Pet Grooming, on Penn Avenue in Wyomissing, and operated the pet salon for a total of four years before closing in 1998.

She is survived by her sister, Sheila Williams Walsh, with whom she resided and one niece and two nephews: Elizabeth, wife of Brian Bullock, Quakertown; William, husband of Kristen Walsh, Palmetto, Florida and Jason Williams, partner of Dean Rissmiller of Muhlenberg Township. She was predeceased by her twin brother, J. Jeffrey Williams of Reading.

She will be missed by her many loving and supportive friends.

Her parents were the late Dr. and Mrs. John Williams of Wyomissing.

Memorial Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in The Bridge, Route 724 and High Blvd., in Cumru Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either The Bridge or the Reading Public Museum Memorial Bench Fund: 500 Museum Rd., Reading, PA 19611.
