Susan L. Volutza

Susan L. Volutza, 60, died Sept. 7 at 2:44 a.m. in her residence in Lower Alsace Township, following a lengthy illness of Amyothropic Lateral Sclerosis.

She was the wife of Joseph S. Volutza.

Born in Cheyenne, Wyo., she was a daughter of Ruth L. (Pennypacker) Stoyko, Wyomissing, and the late Max Stoyko.

Volutza was employed for 24 years as a registered pediatric nurse by Dr. Vincent J. Moffitt, West Reading, retiring in 2002.

She was a 1961 graduate of Reading High School and a 1964 graduate of the Reading Hospital School of Nursing.

Volutza is also survived by a son, Jeffrey M., Pennside.

Other survivors include two sisters, Stacy A. (Stoyko) Dengler, Douglassville, and Sharon L. (Stoyko) McKently, Riverview Park; and three brothers: William N. Stoyko, Harrison, Maine; James R. Stoyko, Cumru Township; and Robert R. Stoyko, Manheim Township, Lancaster County.

There is also a granddaughter.

She was predeceased by a son, Gregory S. Volutza, in 2003.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
