Susan E. Swoyer

Susan E. Swoyer, 51, passed away May 13, 2016, in her Exeter Township residence.

She was the wife of Andrew C. Swoyer, whom she married May 7, 2003. She is also survived by their daughter, Elizabeth "Libby" J. Swoyer, a 5th grade student at Reiffton Middle School.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of Barry E. Kreisher, St. Lawrence and the late Mary Jo (Lesniewski) Kreisher. Her step-mother, Barbara (Travena) Kreisher, also survives her.

Sue was a 1983 graduate of Holy Name High School. She went on to earn her bachelor's degree Summa Cum Laude in Addiction Studies from Alvernia University and her master's degree in Social Work from Temple University.

She was a licensed social worker having worked for the Berks County Youth Center, the Juvenile Probation Office and the Twin Valley School District through the Caron Foundation's Student Assistant Program (SAP). Sue was a teacher at Reading Area Community College and most recently worked for the Progressions Company as a therapist primarily at the Northeast Middle School, Reading.

She loved gardening in her seven perennial gardens. Sue loved reading books by Stephen King and also enjoyed horror movies with The Shining being her favorite. She enjoyed detective shows, 60 Minutes and 20/20.

She was completely in love with her daughter, Libby, and especially enjoyed walking dogs with her at the Animal Rescue League. Sue loved amusement parks and thrill rides, especially roller coasters. She loved family vacations and camping, enjoyed socializing with her friends and playing with her dog Culley. She was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Penn.

Other survivors include a sister, Christie Wenrich; a brother, Steven Kreisher; and three nieces.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at 11 a.m. in St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 4975 Boyertown Pike, Reading, PA 19606. Burial will follow at Schwarzwald Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the church.
