With deep sorrow and immense love, we announce the passing of Susan E. Santiago, who entered eternal rest on July 28, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born on January 18, 1960, in Lakewood, New Jersey, the cherished daughter of the late Rafael Candelaria and Martha (Tabor) Candelaria.
Susan was the devoted wife of Melvin R. Santiago, with whom she shared a beautiful marriage of 30 years. They were united in matrimony on March 24, 1995, and together built a life filled with love, faith, and laughter.
She was the proud and loving mother of John Frederick Otto, Jenifer Grace Otto, and James Jose Santiago, all of whom she treasured beyond words. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. Her love for them was limitless, and she always placed their needs and happiness above all else.
Susan was also a beloved sister to William, Howard Bryant, Daniel Miguel, Kenneth, Edwin Samuel, and Benjamin each of whom held a special place in her heart.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren: Jacob, Jeremiah, Joel, Josue, Alexander, Savannah, Johnny, Esther, and Susan all of whom she adored and who brought her immeasurable joy.
A devout Christian, Susan lived her faith daily and shared her spiritual warmth with everyone she met. She found great joy in listening to Christian music, reading her Bible and uplifting books, and crafting beautiful pieces through crochet. Her home was often filled with the comforting aromas of her delicious cooking another way she poured her love into the lives of her family.
Susan was the heart of every gathering. Her bright spirit, generous soul, and very talkative nature made her the life of any room. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone laugh, feel heard, and feel loved. Her kindness knew no limits, and her door was always open to those in need of a smile, a meal, or a word of encouragement.
Above all, Susan was a loving wife, a devoted mother, a faith-filled woman, and a friend to many. Her legacy is not only in the beautiful family she raised but in the countless lives she touched with her gentle heart, her infectious laughter, and her unwavering love.
Though her absence leaves a deep void in our hearts, we find comfort in knowing that she is resting peacefully in the presence of the Lord she so faithfully served. Her memory will continue to live on in the stories we share, the love we give, and the values she instilled in all of us.
