Steven George Woodward

Steven G. Woodward passed away on October 5, 2023. Steve was born on May 2, 1949, the son of Tom and Margie Woodward. He was raised in Wyomissing, PA and graduated from Wyomissing High School. Steve attended

Babson College in Boston, majoring in business.

In 1977, Steve became the owner of the West Reading Tavern in West Reading, PA. He had a smile and a joke for everyone he met, always taking the time to stop and talk with people. He was an important member of the West Reading community, and worked hard to build the Tavern atmosphere, fostering relationships with everyone he encountered.

Steve enjoyed duck hunting at his camp named Dun Wurkin in Maryland, as well as off the coast of New Jersey.

On June 11, 2017, Steve married his long time girlfriend, Jo, and the two enjoyed semi-retirement together.

Steve is survived by his brother, Scott Woodward of Reading, sister Kim Witmeyer of Wyomissing, son Ryan Woodward of Stowe, VT, son Mark Woodward of Reading, and two step-sons: Eric Slegowski of Lancaster, and Shawn Slegowski of Denver, CO.
