Stella Morris

Stella (Sianis) Morris, formerly of Stowe, PA, age 91, passed away on July 22, 2018, in Jacksonville, FL.

She was the beloved wife of Nick Morris, who passed away on August 17, 2008. Born in Reading, PA on February 9, 1927, she was a daughter of the late James and Fotine (Geras) Sianis.

Stella was a 1946 graduate of Reading High School. She was employed by Rixie Paper Company in Stowe as a machine operator for 23 years until her retirement in 1988.

Stella was a proud member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Reading and of St. Xenia Philoptochos Society.

She was called Yia Yia by her 5 grandchildren and Meya by her 10 great-grandchildren. Stella devoted her life both to her extended and immediate families, whom she adored. She loved to cook, and delighted in watching others eat her home cooking. She had a hilarious sense of humor and kept a repertoire of jokes that she often would share. Stella never met a stranger, and she shared a love for all people, for her faith tradition, for her deep and lasting friendships, and most importantly, for her Greek heritage.

Stella is survived by two daughters: Maria (Morris) O'Brien of Fredericksburg, TX, and husband William J. O'Brien III; and Tina (Morris) Morrell, of Jacksonville, FL, and husband Robert Morrell; and five grandchildren, along with their families: Matt Morrell and wife Hannah, with their sons Nikolas, Lukas, Christopher, and Sebastian; Cristina (Morrell) Howard and husband Jamie; Nicole (O'Brien) Snyder, husband Ashley and daughter Ginger; Ellie (O'Brien) Hudnall, husband Matt and daughter Stella Rae; and William J. O'Brien IV and wife Jorie, along with their sons Liam, Les, Morris, and Mosty. She is also survived by her brother Bill Sianis and sister-in-law Mary Sianis.

In addition to her husband and parents, Stella was predeceased by siblings Gus Sianis, John Sianis, Chris Sianis, and Calliope Sianis, who was her twin.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, July 31 at 10:00 a.m. at Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church 1001 E. Wyomissing Blvd, Reading, PA, 19611. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial immediately following in Charles Evan Cemetery.

Stella's family wishes to sincerely thank the clergy at St. Justin the Martyr and her physicians and staff at Community Hospice, both in Jacksonville, Florida.
