Stanley Futrick Jr., 75, of Sinking Spring, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Medical Center on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Wendy (Tatnall) Futrick. They were married on October 2, 1976, in Ardmore, PA.
Born in Reading, Stan was the son of the late Stanley, Sr. and Louise (Palka) Futrick. He was a 1966 graduate of Reading High School. After receiving a degree in accounting from La Salle University, he was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as an internal auditor for the Department of Public Welfare, until his retirement in 2007.
In his down time, Stan followed Philadelphia sports as an avid—and often frustrated—Phillies and Eagles fan. He looked forward to deep sea fishing from Barnegat Light with friends each year. But his foremost priority was his family. Stan was a loving and devoted husband and father to his three sons, emphasizing education, a strong work ethic, and a sense of humor. Later in life, he relished his role as "Grandpop" to his four grandchildren.
Stan held a soft spot in his heart for animals and enjoyed spoiling his cats and granddoggies with treats. He also loved watching the variety of birds that visited the feeders in his back yard.
In addition to his wife Wendy, Stanley is also survived by his sons, S. Robert, husband of Margaret Saunders, Bellevue, WA; Christopher J., husband of Amanda Hudson, Hoboken, NJ; and Phillip E., husband of Marguerite Emhof, Newtown, PA, and grandchildren, Rhys, Adelyn, Audrey, and Joy, as well as his sisters, Nancy Futrick, Reading, PA, and Linda (Futrick) McDevitt, Shillington, PA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Stanley's family would like to give a special expression of appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Penn State St. Joseph Medical Center for their exceptional care, kindness, and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the ARL, Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue, or your local SPCA.
An informal celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 18 from 1–3 p.m. at the residence of Stan and Wendy Futrick.
Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is honored to serve the family.
