Stacy D. Myers

The Rev. Stacy D. Myers Jr., 77, a retired Methodist pastor who served in Berks County, died April 1 at 6:05 a.m. in The Glen at Willow Valley, Lancaster. He had resided at Willow Valley Retirement Community for more than three years.

He was the husband of Ruth E. (Miller) Myers.

Born in Woodbury, N.J., he was a son of the late Rev. Stacy D. Myers Sr. and Bernita (Gravlin) Myers.

Ordained in 1955 as a pastor in the United Methodist Church, Myers last served as senior pastor at West Lawn UM Church from July 1982 until his retirement in 1995.

He served as a student minister in Philadelphia and pastor for churches in Berwyn, Chester County, and Jenkintown, Montgomery County. He was former West Chester district superintendent for the church and served as an interim pastor in North Coventry Township, Chester County.

Myers served on numerous boards and commissions throughout Pennsylvania. He was a trustee at Albright College.

He was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, Camden, N.J.; a 1951 graduate of Dickinson College, Carlisle, Cumberland County; and a 1954 graduate of the Temple University School of Theology, Philadelphia, receiving his master's degree in 1956. He attended Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Myers was a past Main Line Man of the Year in the Philadelphia region and was a recipient of the Jenkintown Distinguished Service award.

He is also survived by two sons, Stacy D. III, Boca Raton, Fla., and Paul C., Clancy, Mont.; and two daughters, Cheryl M. (Myers) Johnson, Richmond, Va., and Mary M. (Myers) Mason, Folsom, Calif.

Other survivors include a sister, Mary (Myers) Roney, Palos Verdes, Calif.

There are also nine grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in West Lawn UM Church. Additional services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Boehm's UM Church, Willow Street, Lancaster County. Burial will be in Boehm's UM Cemetery, Willow Street. Friends may call Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at West Lawn United Methodist Church and on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. in Boehm's United Methodist Church. Contributions may be made to West Lawn United Methodist Church 15 Woodside Ave. West Lawn, PA 19609. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
