Spiros Katsigiannis

Spyridon N. Katsigiannis, 93, of Reading, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021, at the Reading Hospital. In his final days he was surrounded by his family, whom he adored more than anything in this world.

Spiro was born July 1, 1928, in Voustri, Greece to the late Nicholaos and Gianoula (Lountzis) Katsigiannis. He married his wife Angeliki (Berikou) on October 26, 1958, and they immigrated to the US in 1968 with their children.

Spiros worked hard at several family owned restaurants for many years before starting his own business, owning and operating Maxie's Carsonia Inn for over 15 years with his brother Paul.

Spiros was a sweet and kind man who was well liked by all who met him. He enjoyed visiting family in Greece, but especially loved spending time with his granddaughters.

He is survived by his children, son Nicholas and his wife Karen of Marlton, NJ and daughter, JoAnne Krohn and her husband Karl of Reading; grandchildren: Angelique Krohn of Reading, Katerina Krohn of Philadelphia; Stephanie Benecchi and her husband Kevin of Haddonfield, NJ; Alison Katsigiannis of Austin, TX; Kristen Shoemaker and her husband Robert of Haddon Heights, NJ; and his great granddaughters, Liliana and Daphne Benecchi, of Haddonfield, NJ. He is also survived by his sister Dimitra Nikos of Athens, Greece.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Frank and Paul Katsigiannis, and his sister, Anastasia Konopnioti.

Services will be Tuesday, September, 21, 2021, at 12 p.m. at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church with burial to follow at Charles Evans Cemetery.
