Sophie D. Pierce

Sophie D. Pierce Sophie D. Pierce, 82, of North Front Street, died April 25 at 5:17 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient for one day.

She was the wife of John J. Pierce.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Stephen J. and Anna (Urkuski) Antosy.

Pierce was a member of St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church, Reading.

She was a 1938 graduate of Reading High School.

Pierce is also survived by a son, Stephen J., Shillington; and two daughters, Mary Ann (Pierce) Wayne, Camp Hill, Cumberland County, and Rosemary (Pierce) Kieffer, Hamburg.

Other survivors include a brother, Stephen J. Antosy, San Marino, Calif.

There are also five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Pierce was predeceased by a son, John S., on March 6, 1968.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
