Sophie Miller

Sophie Miller, 83, died Dec. 29 at 7:15 a.m. in her residence on Madison Avenue, Hyde Park.

She was the wife of Robert P. Miller.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes (Dutko) Straka.

Miller was last employed for many years as an examiner by the Berkshire Knitting Mills, Wyomissing.

She was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.

Miller is also survived by two sons, Glenn R., Boulder, Colo., and Mark D., Richmond, Va.; and four daughters: Kathleen M. (Miller) Slegelmilch, North Chatham, Mass.; Lucille M. (Miller) Genslinger, Hyde Park; Elaine (Miller) Farag, Sinking Spring; and Roberta (Miller) Weiger, West Reading.

Other survivors include two sisters, Mary (Straka) Stefanik, Allentown, and Agnes (Straka) Gula, Reading.

There are also 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale, is in charge of arrangements.
