Sister Immaculé Zdanowicz, OSF
Sister Immaculé Zdanowicz, 91, of the Bernardine Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis, died of natural causes on Sunday morning, June 29, 2025, at Sacred Heart Convent, Reading, PA, where she had resided since 2015.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she was a daughter of the late Bruno and Sophia (Paszkiewicz) Zdanowicz.
Sister Immaculé entered the Bernardine Sisters on August 11, 1953, and was in her 73rd year of religious life. Sister earned a BS degree in Education from Villanova University, an MS in Education and a Reading Specialist/Reading Supervisor Certificate from the University of Scranton, and an MA in Religious Studies from Saint Charles Borromeo, Philadelphia, PA. She served in active education ministry in Pennsylvania for over 60 years as an elementary, secondary, adjunct college teacher, principal, CCD coordinator, and superior. Simultaneously she served in parish ministry for 24 years. Sister then transitioned to teaching ESL and Citizenship followed by several additional years of tutoring.
Sister is survived by the members of her Bernardine Franciscan Congregation and by her niece Diane Marie (Janis) Ebert of Plains, PA. There are no surviving immediate family members.
Viewing Wednesday, July 9, 2025, from 9:00 -10:45 a.m. in Sacred Heart Convent Chapel, Reading, PA followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial follows in the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters' Cemetery, Mount Alvernia, Reading, PA.
