Simone Marie Heizmann

Simone Marie (Mothu) Heizmann, 93, passed away peacefully September 5, 2016 at The Highlands of Wyomissing.

She was the very loving wife of the late Richard E. Heizmann, Sr., whom she married in Marseilles, France in 1945. Born in Nice, France she was the daughter of the late Anne Donsimoni.

Simone studied nursing in Marseilles which ended abruptly during Allied bombing which leveled the nursing school. Being fluent in English, French, and Spanish she took another path as an interpreter for the Allied Forces Headquarters. After the war she and Richard settled in Mt. Penn. She was extremely proud of becoming a U.S. citizen.

She is survived by her children: Richard E., Jr., Washington, D.C.; Peter J., Mt. Penn; Robert L., Mt. Penn; Michele T. (Heizmann) Lauter, Reading; David L., Reading; Stephanie J. (Heizmann) Vittoria, Washington, D.C.; Timothy R., Reading. Also six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Thomas M., who passed away in 1958, and two grandchildren.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to the staff of the Reading Hospital, The Highlands and Grane Hospice for their dedication in caring for Simone.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, September 9, 2016 at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 701 Franklin St., West Reading, PA 19611.
