Silvio Schiaroli

Silvio Schiaroli, 90, born January 11, 1927, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 3, 2017, in his Wyomissing residence.

He was the loving husband of Carmela (nee Maggiaro) Schiaroli, of Sedgewood Commons Nursing Home, Falmouth, Maine. They were married September 8, 1951. Silvio and Carmela met in the choir of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading, Pennsylvania.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Pio Schiaroli and Augusta (nee Vagnini) Schiaroli.

He graduated from the former Shillington High School in Shillington, Pennsylvania, on June 1, 1945. Upon graduation, Silvio entered the United States Army as a Private First Class, 3rd Battalion, 47th Infantry. He served in World War II from June 1, 1945, until October, 1946.

Upon his return from World War II, he graduated from McCann School of Business in Reading, Pennsylvania, in 1952 where he majored in accounting.

Silvio began his career at Ludens' Candy Company as a cost accountant on January 29, 1964, and was promoted to Vice President of Bryncoed Company, Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, a division of Ludens' Candy Company on November 30, 1984. Upon the sale of Ludens' to the Hershey Chocolate Company in 1985, Silvio continued in his position of Vice President of Bryncoed Co. until his retirement in January, 1993. After his retirement, he continued to work as a consultant for the Bryncoed Co./The Dietrich Family until April, 2017.

He was a past President of the Kenhorst Lions Club and Kenhorst Fire Company. Additionally, Silvio was a member of the Shillington American Legion, serving as Chaplain. He was a dedicated and active member of the Legion. Also, Silvio was a lifelong devoted member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife, Carmela, Silvio is survived by two children: a daughter, Sylvia Ann Lloyd, and her husband, Randal L. Lloyd of Yarmouth, Maine, and a son, Attorney Peter Silvio Schiaroli, and his wife, Cynthia M. (Fessler) Schiaroli, of Wyomissing. There are also two surviving grandchildren, Silvio Peter Schiaroli and Sophia Maria Schiaroli. He is survived by two step-grandchildren, Andrea C. Clapperton and Alexa M. Clapperton. Silvio loved his children, his grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Silvio was predeceased by his loving brother, Dino Schiaroli, of Shillington, Pennsylvania. There are surviving cousins, sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Most Rev. Msgr. Joseph A. DeSantis at the Holy Rosary R.C. Church, 237 Franklin Street, Reading, PA 19602, on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at 10:00 A.M. Friends may call on Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and Thursday morning from 8:30 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Entombment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, 3139 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605.
