Shirley walked home into the hands of her Lord on April 28, 2011 surrounded by her loving family in her North Heidelberg Township residence.
She was the beloved wife of Thomas E. Norquest, whom she married on October 20, 1973.
Born on July 15, 1947 in Blossburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Elwin L. and Lucy A. (McIlwain) Austin.
She was a graduate of Horseheads High School, NY and attended Cortland State University, NY.
Shirley worked as a law firm administrator for Leisawitz Heller Abramowitch Phillips, P.C., Wyomissing for 17 years last working on July 2, 2010.
She was a member of the Association of Legal Administrators and of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) International.
She was blessed with an enormous heart which she shared with everyone she met. She loved life and loved her friends and family. She was a lover of her furry friends, especially her German Shepherd, Maggie, and routinely made contributions to the ASPCA and Best Friends. She had a strong faith and enjoyed attending bible studies in group settings as well as daily studies she did individually. She loved scrapbooking and crafts, traveling and experiencing any kind of new adventures. She especially loved her trip to Hawaii and those girls' only trips with friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, David S., husband of Kimberly A. Norquest, Muhlenberg Park and her step-daughter, Carol J. Norquest, Morrisville, NC. Also surviving is her brother, Alan "Moose" Austin, Corning, NY and her best friend and "sister", Pam E. Kehl, Robeson Township. Two grandchildren: Carissa J. Norquest and Kody A. Dunlap survive her.
She was predeceased by her step-son, Stephen L. Norquest on April 3, 1980.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 11 a.m. in Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, Sinking Spring. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in NY. Contributions may be made to Forever Friends Twin Valley Relay for Life Team, c/o American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Ave., Reading PA 19605. Edward J.
