Shirley K. Weaver

Shirley K. Weaver, 94, formerly of Farr Place, Reading, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 16, 2025, in the care of Rittenhouse Village of Muhlenberg. Born in Reading to the late Joseph and Anna (Bachl) Kline, Shirley was the beloved wife of George E. Weaver, Jr., who passed away on November 17, 2019, after 71 years of marriage.

She was a graduate of Reading High School, class of 1948. She and George married at a young age, and she met the challenges of a husband and children head on with her persistence and inner strength. She was deeply devoted to her family, and the proud mother of three boys.

She began working at the age of 14 and held various roles throughout her career. For several years she was a telephone operator for Monoson Answering Service and later worked as a receptionist, secretary, and personnel manager for Leininger Mills. She retired in 1992 from Concept Management.

She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, and her devotion to God. She also loved ice cream cones with nuts.

Left to treasure her memory are her sons: George E. Weaver III, husband of Kathleen, of Slatedale, PA; Mark W. Weaver, husband of Lisa, of Denver, NC; and Glenn A. Weaver, husband of Annette, of Hoover, AL. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Elizabeth, Eudora, Mark Jr., Matthew, Melissa, Steven, and Elené; four great grandchildren; and a sister, Elaine K. Faulkner, widow of Henry, of Huntingdon Valley, PA.

Funeral Services for Shirley will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611, followed by committal at Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading. Viewing will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
