Sherwood "Woody" Ellis

Sherwood "Woody" Ellis, 85, of Mulberry, Florida, passed away on September 7, 2026 in Lakeland, Florida. Born in West Reading, he was the son of George and Mazie (Epler) Ellis.

Serving his nation with dignity and pride, Woody was a member of the United States Army. Following the Army, he worked as a technician with Cox Communications.

Woody was a dedicated power lifter who continued competing well into his 80s. He was a distinguished and respected member of the York Barbells, where his strength, determination, and lifelong commitment to the sport inspired those around him.

He is survived by his children: Tracy, Jennifer, Matthew, Victor, Micaela, Briyana, Ezequiel, Julian, and Joshua and ten grandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers, Donald Ellis, of Laureldale, and Richard Ellis, of Laureldale.

Woody was predeceased by his siblings: Alton, Betty, Charles, Grace, Kenneth, Robert, George, Warren, and Wilbur.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at 11AM at Wyomissing Cemetery, 1700 Old Lancaster Pike Gouglersville, Pennsylvania 19608.
