Seva J. Zervanos

Seva J. Zervanos, 85, of Spring Township, passed away December 10, 2013 at Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

Her husband was Alex J. Zervanos who predeceased Seva in 2011.

Born in Hyannis, MA, she was a daughter of the late John and Dionyssia (Demetras) Joakim.

She was a graduate of Simmons College, Boston, MA.

Married in 1953, Seva was a bank teller in Reading, then began teaching in the Honey Brook elementary school system in 1958 until her retirement in 1993.

She loved classical music and taught piano for many years. Seva also enjoyed making clothing and window treatments and was an excellent seamstress. She was an avid collector of cook books and loved cooking. A native of Cape Cod, she enjoyed returning each summer with Alex to visit family.

Seva was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading, where she was involved in many cultural and philanthropic activities over the years.

She is survived by her brothers, Jack J. Joakim, Centerville, MA and Nicholas J. Joakim, Hyannis, MA, and was predeceased by her sister Mary J. (Joakim) Baglaneas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, Godchildren and other loving family members.

A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday at Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, with funeral services to follow at 12 p.m. Burial will be at Charles Evans Cemetery.
