Scot Mason DePue, 60, of Wyomissing, passed away unexpectedly on March 23, 2026, at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Kristin (Murphy) DePue.
Born in Akron, Ohio, Scot was the son of the late Lewis DePue and Marian (Mason) DePue. He graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in Dover, Delaware, and earned his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Delaware. An Air Force veteran, Scot attended medical school at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland, while serving his country. After thirteen years of military service, he completed his residency in emergency medicine at Yale–New Haven Health System.
Scot devoted his career to emergency medicine at hospitals throughout eastern Pennsylvania. He was deeply committed to his patients, offering compassion, presence, and care even amid the demanding pace of modern healthcare. In the later years of his career, he expanded his mission beyond the emergency department by founding a clinic dedicated to treating pain, trauma, and depression—continuing his lifelong dedication to compassionate, patient-centered care.
Scot had a lifelong love for dogs and, at the time of his passing, was the devoted owner of three beloved pets, two of whom he adopted through connections with his patients. He enjoyed traveling, spending time outdoors, and had a deep appreciation for cars—both admiring and collecting them. Music and live concerts brought him great joy.
Known for his caring heart, Scot will be remembered for the love he shared with family and friends. A true family man, he poured his heart into those he loved, always showing up with patience, presence, and unwavering support. His genuine kindness extended to everyone he met, leaving people feeling seen and valued. As a mentor and father, he offered his sons wisdom, encouragement, and love that will continue to guide them for years to come.
In addition to his wife, Kristin, those cherishing Scot’s memory include his sons, Chase DePue and Chet DePue; and his sisters, Cynthia DePue and Jeanne Hutchings (Joe). He joins in heaven his brother, Robert DePue.
A Celebration of Scot’s life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611. Family and friends are invited to gather beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately for the family at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made in Scot’s memory to the National Park Foundation at https://www.nationalparks.org/.
