Sarah E. Nerino, 47, Virginia Beach, VA, and formerly of West Reading and Marshall's Creek, PA, died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at the Penn Hospice at Rittenhouse, Philadelphia, after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer.

She was the wife of Michael P. Nerino, a retired U.S. Coast Guard commander and currently an assistant professor of computer information systems at Alvernia University. They were married in Roseto, PA on October 5, 1985.

Sarah was a graduate of East Stroudsburg South High School and was graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice, Summa cum Laude, from Alvernia University. She was a member of the inaugural class at the Drexel University School of Law and scheduled to be graduated in May.

Sarah, who was born in Minneapolis, MN, resided in numerous localities as the result of being married to a career Coast Guard officer. They included Rosslyn and Arlington, VA; Grosvenor, MD; Taunton, MA; Monterey, CA; Governor's Island, NY; and Virginia Beach, VA.

Sarah was the daughter of Helen (Dahlin) Huddleston, Marshall's Creek, PA and Charles Huddleston, Lake of the Ozarks, MO, and a granddaughter of Elizabeth Huddleston, Lake of the Ozarks, MO.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Mary Margret, working with Teach for America in Washington, D.C., and her son, Albert Lewis, a junior at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN.

She also is survived by her sister, Martha, wife of John Nowik, North Plainfield, NJ; her brother, John, Austin, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. A visitation will be from 9 until 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
