Sara T. Jockel
Sara T. Jockel (Santa Tendra Giamo), 97, of Spring Township, closed her eyes and went to the Lord on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Country Meadows of Wyomissing.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.
Sara was the wife of Harold P. Jockel, who passed away on March 22, 2015.
Born on March 26, 1921, in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of Michaela (LaMonica) and Antonio Giamo.
She attended Holy Rosary School and later, studied cosmetology and became a beautician. Sara and her sister Mary Hoyler owned and operated the Town Beauty Salon, N 5th St. in Reading, for many years.
Sara and her husband Harold enjoyed travelling. She was a wonderful cook and always kept the family well fed. A visit to their house always meant you must eat before you were permitted to leave. She had all the latest in cooking gadgets. She also loved gardening and reading. Her bookshelves were overflowing with cookbooks, gardening guides and novels.
She was predeceased by her siblings Anthony, Angelina, Joanna, Nunzio, Mary and Conchetta. "Aunt Sanda" is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Carolyn Ortner (Donald), Edith Wixon (Merrill), Michele DeAngelis, Michelle Lisa Readinger, Janet Crisman (James), her caregiver Donna Gambler-Ritter (Robert) and all their families.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday April 21, 2018 at 10am in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2810 St. Albans Dr., Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Burial will be at the Laureldale Cemetery, 4631 Pottsville Pike, Reading, PA 19605. Friends may call Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611.
