Sara M. Mcgrath

Dr. Sara Maureen "Sally" McGrath, 70, formerly of Shippensburg, died November 6, 2010 in her Spring Township residence.

Born January 26, 1940 in Warren, PA, she was a daughter of the late T. Edward and Margaret E. (Mills) McGrath.

Sally was a 1958 graduate of Stroud Union High School. She received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from East Stroudsburg University and completed her Doctorate of Education at University of Toledo, Ohio. She also attended University of Colorado, Boulder, CO.

She was employed as a physical education teacher with Exeter High School, Reading and Chatham College, Pittsburgh. She was a professor at Shippensburg University for 32 years, and Chair of the Exercise Science Department for 15 years.

Sally was coach of women's varsity tennis for 16 years at Shippensburg University.

She was a member of APSCUF-SU where she served on the executive committee for 22 years and served as President for one year. She was also actively involved with the Shippensburg Foundation.

Sally was a member of Our Lady of the Visitation Church, Shippensburg.

Surviving are two sisters, Susan M., wife of William H. Dengler of Exeter Township and Maura M., wife of John J. Ciabattoni of Wyomissing.

Other survivors include 6 nieces and nephews and 10 great nieces and great nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church, 4975 Boyertown Pike, (Exeter Township), Reading, PA 19606. A visitation will be held one hour prior to mass in the church. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum, 3139 Kutztown Rd., (Muhlenberg Township), Reading, PA 19605.
