Santo A. Corolla, Sr., 75, of Sinking Spring, passed away August 21, 2014, in Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Gretchen A. (Steiger) Corolla, to whom he was married for 56 years.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Santo Corolla, Jr., and Mary M. (Cianciosi) Camilleri.
Santo began his work career as a baker in his family's bakery, Camilleri's Bakery, Reading; later he was a truck driver for Bob White Frozen Foods for 26 years; a tour bus driver for Macaronis Tours for 6 years; and a bus driver and instructor for Muhlenberg School District (BCIU and Eshelman) for 17 years. Santo was a volunteer for Riverside Fire Company #11; was the Fire Police Captain at Liberty Fire Company, Sinking Spring; and a radio dispatcher for Wells Fargo, Reading.
He was a member of the Teamsters Local 429 for 42 years.
Santo enjoyed bowling, baseball, trains, watching movies, and listening to music. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and loved spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his four children: Michaellene A. Corolla, partner of Mirquiades Gonzalez, Reading; Lori A., wife of William Stoudt, Jr., Temple; Lisa M., wife of Duane Soja, Bernville; and Santo A. Corolla, Jr., Mooresville, NC. Also surviving are his brother, James M. Corolla, Sr., Wyomissing; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A viewing will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
